Whether you’re a veteran boater or taking lessons for the first time, you’re in store for a memorable experience on the Potomac. Enjoy a breathtaking view of downtown D.C. while sailing, kayaking or enjoying a stand-up paddleboard around the iconic Daingerfield Island. Prefer two wheels to the water? Rent a bike and explore the nearby Mount Vernon Bike Trail that takes you from the front doors of George Washington’s Mount Vernon to the foot of the Washington Monument. End your adventures with a picnic in the park or stop for delicious contemporary cuisine, your favorite cocktail, and remarkable views of D.C. at the nearby Indigo Landing Restaurant.

The Washington Sailing Marina, located in Alexandria, is the premier facility for one-design and small sailboat racing in the D.C. Metro area, and host to the Potomac River Sailing Association, Daingerfield Island Sailing Fleet, Sailing Club of Washington, Georgetown Sailing Team, and the National Yacht Club.

Floating Slips
We offer 25 ft. slips, most of which include water and 30 amp electric. Our 30 ft. and 35 ft. slips include water and electric, as well as dock boxes and mooring pilings. Each slip is sold by the size of the slip or the size of the boat, whichever is greater.

Dry Storage
Dry slips offer the convenience of being close to the water yet still allow you to keep your boat on a trailer. This situation is ideal for one-designs and racers. The Sailing Marina has three one-ton launch cranes, a launch ramp and four launch docks that provide easy access to or from the water. WSM does offer dry storage transient rates. The rate is $15.00 per night.

Rack Space
Rack storage is available for sailboat owners who have boats 14 feet or smaller and do not have trailers. Ideal for dinghies and windsurfers, rack storage offers covered storage close to the launch area.

Directions


From the South

Take Interstate 95 North. Get onto 395 North. Take the Reagan National Airport/Boundary Channel Drive exit and head towards Reagan National Airport. Stay in the left lane once you get on the George Washington Memorial Parkway and pass Reagan National Airport. Washington Sailing Marina will be on your left 1 1/2 miles past the airport.

From Washington, DC

Take the 14th Street Bridge across the Potomac into Virginia. Take the GW Parkway exit going towards Reagan National Airport. Stay in the left lane and pass Reagan National Airport. Washington Sailing Marina will be on your left 1 1/2 miles after the airport.

From Maryland – American Legion Bridge

From 495 South, cross the American Legion Bridge into Virginia. Take the George Washington Memorial Parkway exit. Stay in the left lane and pass Reagan National Airport (about 15 miles). Washington Sailing Marina will be on your left 1 1/2 miles after the airport.

From Maryland – Woodrow Wilson Memorial Bridge

From Interstate 95 South, take the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into Virginia. Take the first exit in Virginia into Old Town Alexandria. You will be on Route 1 North. Take a right onto Duke Street, go through two traffic lights and take a left at the third onto Washington Street. After Washington Street leaves Old Town and turns into the GW Parkway, the Sailing Marina will be on your right about 3/4 of a mile outside of Old Town.
