Get ready to paddle your way around the Tidal Basin and spend some time with Thomas Jefferson! Soak up the sun and make monumental memories on the water in a swan boat or paddle boat. Visit in March and April to experience thousands of cherry trees in full bloom, and fill your summer days with leisurely peddling, picturesque views, and picnics in the park.

ADMISSION/COST
$18.00 per hour – 2 passenger boat
$30.00 per hour – 4 passenger boat
$34.00 per hour – 2 passenger SWAN boat

We welcome and offer special accommodations for the SWAN boats for persons with disabilities.

NOTE: During the Cherry Blossom Festival season, you can reserve paddle boats online.


At least one passenger must be 16 years of age

The Tidal Basin Boathouse supplies life vests for individuals over 18 months of age or 25 lbs. All passengers in boats rented from The Tidal Basin Boathouse must wear a life vest at all times.

All boat renters need this form at our boathouse locations and we encourage you to print and fill it out ahead of time so you have more time in the water!

Parking availability can be limited, so it is strongly recommended that you take public transit. Interstate 395 provides access to the Mall from the South. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and the Cabin John Parkway provide access from the North. Interstate 66, U.S. Routes 50 and 29 provide access from the West. U.S. Routes 50, 1, and 4 provide access from the East.

Take Metro to the Smithsonian Station (Blue/Orange lines) and use the 12th Street & Independence Ave. exit. Walk west on Independence toward 15th Street. Turn left on Raoul Wallenberg Pl./15th Street and continue toward the Jefferson Memorial and look for the Tidal Basin Paddle Boat dock.
