Potomac River Flooding May 2025
Update 5/22/25: Fletcher’s Boathouse is still closed. Key Bridge Boathouse and Thompson Boat Center are currently re-opened for rentals.
The Potomac River has flooded and Key Bridge Boathouse, Thompson Boat Center, and Fletcher’s Cove will be closed until at least Tuesday.
The following locations will still be open for weekend rentals, but some will have modified boundaries or only renting kayaks due to the stronger current.
Tidal Basin: Open
- Renting Kayaks & Pedal Boats
Wharf: Open
- Renting Kayaks only (no canoes or SUPs this weekend)
Columbia Island Marina: Open
- Renting Kayaks only
- Boundary: staying in Lagoon and not allowed in Potomac River this weekend
National Harbor: Open
- Renting Kayaks, pedal boats, canoes (no SUPs)
- Boundary: staying in the Cove this weekend
James Creek Marina: Open
- Renting Kayaks only
Ballpark Boathouse: Open
- Renting Kayaks only
Fletchers: Closed for all rentals until further notice
Key Bridge Boathouse: Closed until flooding goes down and we can bring the dock back up
Thompson Boat Center: Closed until flooding goes down and we can bring the dock back up
Washington Sailing Marina: Closed for rentals, but building is open for food and beverage purchases
