Boating in DC Earth Day 2025

Every April 22, we come together to protect and preserve the environment for future generations. For Earth Day 2025, our team at Boating in DC is proud to highlight a series of eco-friendly boating activities and cleanup initiatives to celebrate Earth Day and inspire change.

Overall, we recognize the role our waters play in supporting local ecosystems, recreation, and the thriving community we’re part of. That’s why this Earth Day, we’re inviting you to make a difference on the Potomac with us.

Paddle for Cleaner Waterways

Every year, millions of people flock to The Wharf, enjoying its vibrant restaurants, music venues, and shops alongside the beauty of the Washington Channel. But with heavy rain and tides comes an influx of wood debris and trash, negatively impacting aquatic life and the channel’s visual appeal.

To combat this, Boating in DC proudly partners with The Wharf for the annual Water Cleanup Event. This initiative tackles the litter and driftwood that damage piers, boat propellers, and habitats, using eco-friendly measures such as floating wetlands to filter pollutants and minimize waste runoff. Here’s how you can participate in Earth Day events this year!
